They say, “If a Muslim is behind the gun, everyone sees him. But if a Muslim is in front of the gun, no one sees him.”
On October 7, 2023, when Hamas attacked Israel, almost every country in the world strongly condemned it. Most nations labeled Hamas’s actions as terrorism and declared Hamas a terrorist organization.
But since 1948, especially after October 7, the ongoing Israeli attacks, the genocide of innocent civilians, and war crimes in Palestine have not been condemned with the same intensity as the Hamas attacks. And yet, the scale of destruction and the number of deaths caused by Hamas is nothing compared to the devastation inflicted by Israel.
Why is it that those who claim to see humanity above religion, who constantly chant the slogans of human rights and values, remain completely silent when it comes to Israel’s genocide and war crimes in Gaza? Are the innocent civilians being slaughtered in Palestine and Gaza not human beings?
In Gaza, the situation is worsening with each passing day. Israel has long blocked the supply of medicines, essential goods, food, and water, leading to deaths from shortages. But now, the situation has become so dire that 14,000 children are standing at the edge of death due to hunger and thirst. Still, the world’s so-called humanity remains unmoved. Perhaps, this “humanity” only awakens based on religion.
Had such a tragedy—mass killing and starvation of children—occurred in a non-Muslim country, the world would have been up in arms. But these poor innocent children of Gaza remain unaware that it is only because of their religion that the world’s conscience refuses to awaken.
So far, more than 62,000 people have been killed in Gaza. Around 15,000 more are feared dead under the rubble. And these are only the official, registered figures — the real death toll may be much higher, even double in some cases.
Among these 62,000 are more than 17,000 children and over 28,000 women killed by Israel. Where are those who constantly speak of Muslim women’s freedom and rights, and criticize Islam and Muslims in the name of feminism and liberalism? Why are they silent on the murder of these 28,000 Muslim women in Gaza? Do they not count as women?
This hypocrisy exposes all those who pretend to fight for women’s rights and justice — especially Muslim women — while turning a blind eye to this massacre.
In Gaza:
- 80% of commercial centers have been destroyed,
- 88% of schools have been bombed,
- 68% of the road network has been wiped out,
- Healthcare centers and hospitals have been demolished — only 50% of hospitals remain partially functional,
- 68% of agricultural land has been devastated,
- 85% of Gaza’s population has been forcibly displaced.
In short, there is no crime or oppression left that Israel hasn’t committed in Gaza. And yet, the so-called peace-loving, human rights–loving people of the world are still silent!
If a Muslim country had done even a fraction of this to non-Muslim civilians — men, women, or children, or even to non-Muslim citizens within its own borders, then the so-called guardians of global peace and justice would have overthrown that Muslim government, hanged the prime minister, shot him dead, and taken over the country in the name of justice.
But none of this happens with Israel. Despite more than a year and a half of relentless war crimes, genocide, and inhuman acts in Gaza, the world remains silent. Why?
Does the world’s humanity only awaken when it sees a certain religion? Or are there devils hidden behind the mask of humanism?
Supporting Israel’s inhumane actions, remaining silent, or even turning a blind eye to its oppression, war crimes, and genocide — is nothing short of a crime against humanity itself. In fact, it is outright terrorism.
